Return to Joy

We all encounter multiple emotions in ourselves and others on a given day. But we often don’t know how to process and respond to these emotions in healthy ways. The Return to Joy skill helps us develop our ability to recognize and feel our feelings, and then share and quiet those feelings so we can recover or return to a state of peace and connection.

Learning how to Return to Joy makes us more emotionally resilient and enables us to become like Jesus who remained His true self and recovered when things went wrong. As we grow this skill we learn to see emotions not as something to fear or avoid, but as opportunities to connect with others as we share both our joys and our pains!

This course will equip you with practical tools so you can develop Return to Joy as a skill.

Strengthen your capacity by identifying gaps in the Foundational 5 Relational Skills and considering ways to fill these gaps.

  • Develop Emotional Awareness

    Course participants will explore ways the Big 6 Emotions show up both internally and externally in their lives and recognize models in their communities who provide examples of how to manage these emotions well.

  • Gain God’s Perspective on Emotional Models

    Course participants will identify childhood models for each of the SADSAD emotions, consider what they learned from these models, and turn to Immanuel for His perspective.

  • Receive Immanuel’s Comfort

    Course participants will learn tools to connect with Immanuel in emotions and receive His attunement and comfort.

  • Before starting this course, we highly recommend taking the Foundational 5 Intro Course if you haven’t already developed a strong foundation in The Foundational 5 skills.
  • If you find it difficult to maintain joy and peace consistently, even when life is going well, we encourage you to focus on strengthening your capacity-building skills (The Foundational 5) before diving into this course.
