What is the Return to Joy skill?

  • Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. - 2 Cor. 1:3-4

  • The Return to Joy skill (aka Skill 11) helps us learn to return to a place of joy, peace, and connection when we experience unpleasant emotions.

  • Learn more about Skill 11: www.thrivetoday.org/skill11

  • Why do we need this skill?
➤ Practicing this skill will help you learn how to identify the unpleasant emotions we all feel and get back to a place of God’s joy and peace. The more we develop this, the less we will feel the need to avoid emotions, the less we will get stuck in them, and the quicker we will be able to recover when we do get stuck.
➤ Learning to return to joy helps us to take good care of our relationships, even when we are upset.
➤ This skill will help us to be more tender with ourselves and with others who are feeling difficult emotions like fear, anger, or sadness, leading to deeper relationships.

A Return to Joy Group

We all encounter multiple emotions in ourselves and others on a given day. But we often don’t know how to process and respond to these emotions in healthy ways. The Return to Joy skill helps us develop our ability to recognize and feel our feelings, and then share and quiet those feelings so we can recover or return to a state of peace and connection.

Learning how to Return to Joy makes us more emotionally resilient and enables us to become like Jesus who remained His true self and recovered when things went wrong. As we grow this skill we learn to see emotions not as something to fear or avoid, but as opportunities to connect with others as we share both our joys and our pains!

This Habit Builder group will equip you with practical tools so you can develop Return to Joy as a skill, and will provide an online community to grow with.
